Sónar Barcelona 2026 is preparing to be the most ambitious edition in its history, marking a milestone in the fusion of electronic music with technological avant-garde.

From our DJ academy, Beatheim, in Berlin, we experience this festival as the culmination of everything we teach: the perfect blend of technique, creativity, and the intelligent use of new digital tools. This year, the festival has decided to make a bold statement and unify its spaces so you don’t lose a single second of inspiration, merging day and night into a single heartbeat that will leave you wanting more. Can you imagine being in a place where the sun and the dancefloor spotlights meet? Stay with us, because we are going to reveal how this festival is going to change your understanding of club culture.
History of Sónar Barcelona
Sónar festival was born in 1994 with a clear vision: to be a loudspeaker for advanced music and multimedia art. Throughout these decades, it has evolved from a niche event into a global benchmark. Its essence has always been the constant exploration of musical frontiers, serving as a laboratory for both established and emerging artists. At Sónar Barcelona 2026, this evolution reaches a point of no return with the total unification of its activities, eliminating the classic geographical separation between day and night.
This change is historic. For the first time, everything happens in a single venue. Furthermore, management has passed into the hands of the Sónar Foundation, a non-profit organisation created in 2023 with the aim of promoting research and development in culture and sustainability. This ensures that the festival remains that free and experimental space where it was born, but with a more accessible and modern infrastructure. At Beatheim, we deeply value this trajectory because it reflects the path of any artist: learning from the past to break the rules of the future.
When is Sónar Barcelona 2026?
Make a note of these dates in your diary: Sónar festival 2026 will take place on the 18th, 19th and 20th of June 2026. It will be three days of total immersion during which Barcelona becomes the world capital of electronic music. The most interesting aspect of this edition is the new unified schedule, which allows you to enjoy the festival continuously.
On Thursday 18 June, the doors will open at 17:00 and the music will play until 03:00, offering what the organisation defines as “the best Thursday in Sónar’s history”. On Friday 19 and Saturday 20, the day will also begin at 17:00, but the party will continue until 07:00. This structure is designed for you to set your own pace, moving from afternoon light to the darkness of the dancefloor without abrupt interruptions.
Where is Sónar Barcelona 2026?
The big news for Sónar Barcelona 2026 is the unification at Fira Gran Via. This venue, located just 15 minutes from the centre of Barcelona, will now host all musical performances. No more having to cross half the city to move from the daytime atmosphere to the nighttime one. Now everything is within reach, just a couple of minutes’ walk between stages.

At Fira Gran Via, you will find six incredible stages: three open-air and three indoor. You can dance on the grass at the legendary SonarVillage by Estrella Damm or lose yourself in the darkest techno at SonarClub, which this year is presented as “the world’s largest dancefloor”. On the other hand, the more intellectual and experimental part of the Sónar programme, Sónar+D, will have its main headquarters at Llotja de Mar, a stunning neoclassical building in the city centre near Barceloneta. Thus, the festival keeps one foot in the industrial modernity of the Fira and the other in the historic heart of Barcelona.

The Sónar 2026 lineup features 102 performances covering the entire spectrum of contemporary electronic music. Although the exact schedules for each stage will be revealed later, the bulk of the Sónar programme has already been confirmed.

Thursday 18 June
The festival kicks off in style on Thursday from 17:00 to 03:00. Highlights of the opening day include the SonarVillage, SonarHall, SonarPark, and SonarCar stages. At Llotja de Mar, we will enjoy the presence of Yancey Strickler, Daito Manabe (in conversation with Google DeepMind), Shoeg, and the anarchic closing set by dadabots. At the main venue, names such as Reinier Zonneveld will present their innovative live shows powered by artificial intelligence.
Saturday 20 June
The festival’s closing promises to be apotheosic, with sets running from 17:00 until 07:00. It is the day to lose yourself among the six active stages and discover why Sónar remains the absolute benchmark of the sector.

Sónar+D: The technological heart
We cannot talk about Sónar Barcelona without mentioning Sónar+D. This year it moves to Llotja de Mar on June 18th and 19th, from 10:00 to 21:00. It is the place where artists and scientists join hands to imagine the future. The programme is divided into three fascinating pillars: ‘AI & Music’ (Artificial Intelligence applied to music), ‘Beyond the Screen’, and ‘Digital Gardens and Dark Forests’ (the future of the Internet).
There will be talks by experts such as Yancey Strickler (co-founder of Kickstarter) and incredible demonstrations by Daito Manabe and Google DeepMind. Additionally, if you like gear, you will be pleased to know that there will be digital art installations even at the Fira Gran Via venue, so that technology accompanies you while you dance. It is a golden opportunity to learn things you won’t see anywhere else. At Beatheim, we always say that a good DJ doesn’t just play music, but understands the technology behind it, and Sónar+D is the best school for that.
The OFFSónar phenomenon
If after all this you still have energy, you have to get to know OFFSónar. It is a parallel festival that takes over Poble Espanyol from June 18th to 21st. While the main Sónar is a technological journey, OFFSónar focuses on famous record label parties in a beautiful setting with views across all of Barcelona.
This year there will be brutal events such as the elrow party on Sunday, June 21st, or label takeovers by the likes of Keinemusik (Rampa & Adam Port), Adriatique, and Mochakk. It is the perfect complement for those who want to squeeze the electronic music week to the fullest in iconic settings such as the Plaza Mayor or the Monasterio del Poble Espanyol.
